Magnesium oxide (MgO) is an important inorganic compound with various types and characteristics, widely used in various fields. The following are the main types and characteristics of magnesium oxide:

1. Ordinary magnesium oxide

Characteristics: It is a white solid at room temperature, with good high temperature resistance and chemical stability. Soluble in acid, insoluble in water, possessing a certain degree of thermal conductivity.

Application: Used for building materials, refractory materials, chemical products, etc.

2. High purity magnesium oxide

Characteristics: High purity (usually ≥ 99.5%), extremely low impurity content, excellent thermal conductivity and chemical stability, high thermal conductivity.

Application: Widely used in high-end industries such as electronics, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and food.

3. Modified magnesium oxide

Characteristics: Modified by chemical or physical methods to improve its performance, such as increasing hydrophilicity, dispersibility, and strength.

Application: Used in industries such as plastics, rubber, and coatings as fillers and reinforcing materials.

4. Nano magnesium oxide

Characteristics: The particle size is in the nanometer range, with extremely high specific surface area and unique physical and chemical properties. It has excellent thermal conductivity and can form high-strength composite materials.

Application: Used in fields such as thermal conductive materials, coatings, pharmaceuticals, and biomaterials.

5. Spherical magnesium oxide

Characteristics: Spherical particles with good flowability, capable of effectively filling material gaps and enhancing the mechanical properties of composite materials.

Application: Widely used in thermal conductive materials and high-performance composite materials, especially in electronic products and heat dissipation materials.

6. Magnesium hydroxide

Characteristics: The chemical formula is Mg (OH) ₂, which usually exists in the form of a white solid or slurry, and has good flame retardancy and smoke suppression.

Application: Commonly used as a flame retardant for materials such as plastics and rubber, as well as in water treatment and environmental applications.

Different types of magnesium oxide have their own characteristics and can meet the needs of different industries. Whether in the fields of construction, electronics, medicine, or environmental protection, magnesium oxide has shown a wide range of potential applications. With the continuous advancement of technology, the application fields and performance of magnesium oxide will continue to expand.
